Frames

Step 3

To get a subtle look:

Face Shape:

The rounder your face, the squarer the frame.

The squarer your face, the rounder the frame.

The longer your face, the deeper the frame.

If you have a broader forehead than your cheeks, go for frames with heavier bottoms.

If you have wider cheeks than forehead, go for frames with heavier tops.

Colour:

If you have a light skin tone go for light colours like silver, blue and pink.

If you have a warm skin tone, go for warmer colours like brown, gold and red

If you have a darker skin complexion black frames will blend in.

Beware of choosing a colour similar to your hair as this colour will dominate your face

Materials:

Lightest materials are titanium and stainless steel.

Nickel alloy frames are light, but they may react with skin if you have an allergy to cheap jewellery. Stainless steel frames may have nickel alloy in them

Plastic frames are bold. They are good if you have thick lenses as they hide the thickness. They also hold the lens in place more securely as is a mould, not relying in screws to hold frame together.

Frame Style:

Rimless – most discreet especially if you have a frame made of thin titanium

Semi rimless – very discreet – especially if you choose a colour that blends with your skin tone. You can have a bit more fun  with the colour of the frame as it will not dominate your face.

Full rim – this frame will suit all lenses.

Bolder Look:

Go crazy – big, plastic, in any colour or shape.
